A Bound for One Choice Does Not Price Every Subset
Abstract
An opportunity-cost bound and a structural subset task concern different selected objects. Their evaluation should state how the retained set leads to a final action and what work is required afterward. A bound conditional on one-winner assumptions cannot be reported as the observed loss of every retained group on a new application file. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
