A Search Threshold Is Not a Feasibility Requirement
Abstract
Peak-directed search and constrained partition search use different boundaries. A search threshold directs exploration; a feasibility limit determines whether the discovered action can be used. Evaluation should fix the latter externally and reserve terminal checks. It should not credit an exploratory peak as adequate merely because the threshold was chosen to find it. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
